Describe your piece and what it is. How would you explain it to someone over the phone or who has never done this type of art before? This is a painting of a few macarons and a hamburger. The macarons are more realistic, while the hamburger is cartoonish. Explain at least 1 of the following in your piece: space, color, shape, form, value, texture, or line. I used a lot of bright colors on the macarons to make the piece seem fun and enticing. The dark background (negative space) also helps the objects stand out more. Explain at least 1 of the following in your piece: Balance, unity, variety, emphasis, movement, pattern, or proportion.
The proportions in this painting are not very realistic. I painted several macarons to be the same size as a hamburger. I think this makes the painting more interesting to look at, though, too. Explain your idea behind your piece. What inspired you? How does your piece show this? (technique, subject, color, artist, other) I've never really painted in a realistic style before, so I wanted to try it out on some macarons. I might not have turned out to be completely realistic, but I'm pretty satisfied with the result. What do you find successful about your piece? I really like the macarons at the bottom of the painting. The final photo I took doesn't fully show the entire impact of most of the objects, but when looking at the piece in real life, those are the macarons that are the brightest and most appealing. What did you learn from this assignment? Painting really requires a lot of time- I spent a long time even when just blending colors. I can't even imagine how long it took to paint some of those famous paintings hanging in art museums.

I think I was sick on the days we did these painting warm-ups in class, so I don't have them.
